The first confirmed case of Measles in Nebraska has been reported in Platte County – an unvaccinated child who recently travelled to Arizona. Those who may have visited the Shell Creek Baptist Church in Columbus on Christmas Eve, the Columbus Community Emergency Department on December 29th. Yesterday’s storms kept the Iowa State Patrol busy. The patrol says it responded to 158 calls for service from 6am Sunday to 8pm, of that 31 vehicle crashes with 22 having property damage, one of those accidents was fatal, eight had injuries and 127 motorist assists were performed.     That storm yesterday closed parts of I-35 from Ames to the Minnesota border.

New members of the Missouri Valley City Council were sworn in at the most recent meeting – Russ Meadows and Christopher Gilpin, Mayor Roger Marshall and Fire Chief Angel Smiley.     Also at that meeting, Jack Gaukel was hired as a certified officer of the Missouri Valley Police Department. Phyllis Henrich was introduced as the new Library Director.
