A message from the Washington County Planning and Zoning

In response to citizen concerns and media questions, the Planning and Zoning Office states as follows:

On February 13, 2026, Mr. Rogert came into the Planning and Zoning Office to apply for an administrative zoning permit. At that time, Mr. Rogert indicated that he was building a barn/storage building to house agriculture supplies and equipment. Based upon that information, he was issued a limited administrative permit. It was later discovered that Mr. Rogert was using the facility for the cultivation of medical marijuana, which would require an approved conditional use permit. At that time, a stop work order was issued.

A stop work order is a standard procedure to cease work on a construction project where the conditions for approval have not been met. There is a procedure in place to apply for a conditional use permit. To date, the Planning and Zoning Office has not received a conditional use application from Mr. Rogert.

The Planning and Zoning Office has received calls of a threatening nature regarding this subject. Please know that these calls are being logged and information is being provided to the Washington County Sheriff’s department
