Here’s what’s happening in our area…

Maternal deaths in the U.S. are three times higher than in other developed countries. Post Partum safety can impact women after pregnancy. Blair’s Memorial Community Hospital now provides a teal colored wrist band for every new mom to wear as a reminder for the six weeks after birth – to attend follow up appointments, to speak up if something doesn’t feel right. See more online at mchhs.org

Music by Rock n Roll Cowboyz this evening, along with complimentary food is part of the “We Support Our Law Enforcement Officers” event tonight at the Missouri Valley City Park. It starts at 6 and is sponsored by the Mo Valley Chamber of Commerce.

A Veterans Suicide Awareness Concert is this coming Saturday from 1pm to 7pm at the GI Forum in Omaha. Seven local bands, food and more – bring a lawn chair. The address for the GI Forum is 2002 N Street in Omaha. All proceeds will go to the GI Forum, which has been helping Veterans for over 70 years.

In an effort to defray the veterinary costs at the equine rescue “Rosco’s Rescue Ranch”, the organization is selling Red Arrow Candles and Rescue Tee Shirts. Their targeted fundraising goal is just over one thousand dollars. That effort starts July 12th at 9am and runs through July 19th at 9pm. You will find more information online at the Rosco’s Rescue Ranch Facebook page.

The Blair Volunteer Fire and Rescue Department is having a hydrant party this Sunday from 3 to 4:30 at Lion’s Park. The event is free and everyone is invited.

Those are a few of the happenings in our area. If you would like your non-profit event on the Blair Radio Community Calendar, it’s free! Just email that information to events@blairradio.com
