ANNEXATION OF SOUTHERN HILLS, SOUTH BY-PASS CHANGE APPROVED BY CITY COUNCIL
Nearly decades in the planning and approval stages, breaking ground on Blair’s South By Pass is closer to reality.
At last night’s city council meeting, Public Works Director Al Shoemaker says a few changes at the federal level are impacting the start of the By-Pass, but it may work out in the city’s favor.
New rules are in place mandating how the process is managed. The Nebraska Department of Transportation will provide these services.
Al says NDOT would be better equipped to handle the matter in a shorter amount of time than if he and other city personnel were to perform those tasks. The city council did approve utilizing the Nebraska Department of Transportation’s right of way acquisition department.
Also approved on final reading last night – annexation of parts of the Southern Hills Subdivision and extending city utilities to the area.
