HERE’S WHAT’S HAPPENING IN OUR AREA…


National Night Out in Blair is tomorrow night from 6 to 8pm at Generations Park. You can meet those who protect our community – the Blair Police Department, the Washington County Sheriff’s Office, and the Blair Volunteer Fire and Rescue Department. Food and fun are featured, the entire family is encouraged to attend.


The Tekamah Sweet Corn Festival is this Thursday from 5 to 8pm at 412 South 13th Street. Food from local groups, a corn hole competition, dunk tank, bounce house, live music, a sweet corn eating contest and more are featured.


Summer at the Park in Fort Calhoun is featuring the band “Rum Runner” Thursday, August 7th from 7 to 9pm. Javi’s Tacos, Twin Happiness and Lou and Company Shaved Ice will have concessions. You do need to bring your own lawn chair or blanket. This is at 1201 Adams street.


A breakfast fundraiser for the Adopt a Family Program is August 10th from 8 to 11:30 am at the Missouri Valley Eagles Club. The cost is 12 dollars per person.


Classics with a Cause at the Quasar Drive in on Thursday August 14th is featuring the movie “Mrs. Doubtfire. Admission is free, though donations are encouraged – the evening is a benefit for the Blair Memorial Community Hospital’s Therapy Services Expansion Project.


The Blair Optimist Club is seeking volunteers, especially with the new school year coming up. Check the Blair Optimist Club International’s Facebook page for more details.
