COUNCIL SEAT VACANCY OF THE FIRST WARD OF THE CITY OF TEKAMAH, NEBRASKA

NOTICE IS HEREBY GIVEN, that there is a vacancy in the elected office of City of Tekamah City Council seat as of October 22, 2026. This City Council seat's term ends in December 2028. This seat is to be filled with a citizen who is registered to vote and resides on the West side of Tekamah (First Ward).

The length of the term of said office expires December 2028, and the qualifications required to be appointed to such office include United States citizenship, residency in the City of Tekamah Ward One, and being a registered voter. The First Ward is all of that portion of the City of Tekamah lying West of the centerline of 13th Street.

Qualified applicants should contact City Clerk Karolyn McElroy by either coming to the City Office at 1126 S 13th Street, Tekamah, NE, by email at tekwater2@tekamah.net or calling 402-374-2521 as soon as possible.

The City of Tekamah's Mayor shall submit the name of a qualified applicant to fill the vacancy to the City Council at a regular Council meeting. The next meeting is November 12, 2026. Once an applicant's name is submitted to Council and is approved by a majority vote of the Council, the vacancy shall be filled and the nominee shall be sworn into office.
