Record setting use of food pantries in the Hawkeye state has caught the attention of Iowa State University officials. This is prompting grants to provide fresh produce through the Iowa State University Extension and SNAP education.
30 projects are being funded, six of those in northwest Iowa, including a project in Harrison County, where a donation garden with raised beds will be constructed at the Crew Center in Woodbine, engaging older adults and students.
The produce from this garden will be donated to the Woodbine Community Food Pantry.
