Here’s what’s happening in our area…

The Washington County Nebraska Genealogical Society is presenting a program entitled “Civil War Connections” Wednesday, July 2nd at 2pm at the Blair Public Library and Technology Center, 2233 Civic Drive in Blair.

The Blair Lion’s Club – Bob Krogh Memorial Peach and Pear Sale is now underway. The Lion’s fundraiser benefits diabetes awareness and education, eyeglasses and hearing aides for those in need and provides scholarships for graduating high school seniors. Details can be found online at the BlairLionsClub.org.

The last of the June Music in the Park Series is this Thursday evening 7pm – featuring the Lou Bozak Band at the Missouri Valley City Park. The next concert will be July 10th.

 The Jeanette Hunt Animal Shelter is establishing– a no cost pet food pantry, open to Washington County Residents, is available on the fourth Thursday of the month on a first come, first serve basis between 4:30 and 6pm. The next pantry is June 26th at 147 Fourth Street in Blair. There will be pop up pantries at additional days and times – and will be posted on the the Blair Animal Shelter Facebook Page.

Donations are sought to help the Pack the Park School Backpack program. Fifty dollars will cover the cost of one school supply kit, a pair of New Balance shoes and a pair of socks. You can find donation information on the Reach Church or Pack the Park social media.

A grand re-opening of the recently refurbished Joseph’s Coat Thrift Store is this Thursday from 7:15 to 11am for coffee and donuts, and from 11am to 1pm for lunch from Tasty Pizza. Sales from Joseph’s Coat Thrift Store supports the Washington County Food Pantry
