Lots of new presents are to be unwrapped Friday and Saturday. When it comes to getting rid of the boxes of those items, be careful! Setting a box for a large flat screen t.v. out on the curb on trash day lets potential burglars know you have something valuable, and it could make you a target of thieves. In like manner, leaving valuables in your vehicle is also a target. Blair Police Chief Joe Lager recommends breaking down those boxes and putting them in opaque garbage bags, locking your home and vehicle and if you’re going to be out of town, avoid putting it on social media. Thieves will monitor your posts, watching for an opportunity to rob.
