PURSUIT, TRAIN DERAILMENT ON WASHINGTON COUNTY SHERIFF'S REPORT
Blowing snow and icy road surfaces caused several vehicles to end up in ditches and medians yesterday according to the Washington County Sheriff’s activity summary for January 19th through this morning.
A pursuit shortly after midnight Saturday when a vehicle was spotted failing to maintain lanes, the driver failed to yield and the pursuit began, the driver crashed the vehicle near 56th and Whitmore and ran from the scene. The suspect was arrested and charged with flight to avoid arrest, speeding and possession of cocaine among other charges.
A train derailment noted earlier is also on Sheriff Mike Robinson’s report, as well as a semi jack-knifed across County Road 14 and stuck in a ditch. A tractor pulled the semi out of the ditch and the road way was cleared.
