PUBLIC NOTICE: PRACTICE HOUSE BURN – SATURDAY, OCTOBER 17TH

Alert From the Blair Volunteer Fire and Rescue
If you see smoke, flames, or an increased presence of fire trucks along Highway 75 this Saturday morning, don't be alarmed — it's a planned training exercise!
The Blair Volunteer Fire & Rescue Department, along with several neighboring fire departments, will be conducting a controlled practice house burn to provide our firefighters with valuable hands-on training on the morning of Saturday, October 17th, 2026 in the area of the 14000 Block of U.S. Highway 75.
You can expect:
* Visible smoke and flames coming from the training location.
* An increased presence of fire trucks and emergency personnel.
* Firefighters conducting live-fire training exercises throughout the morning.
Why do we do this?
Practice house burns provide an invaluable opportunity for firefighters to train in realistic conditions. From fire suppression and hose advancement to teamwork and communication, these exercises help prepare our members for the real emergencies they respond to throughout the year.
With several neighboring fire departments joining BVFD, crews will train together and strengthen the teamwork that is so important when responding to emergencies across our communities.
Motorists traveling through the area are asked to use caution, remain alert for emergency vehicles, and avoid stopping along the roadway to watch.
BVFD appreciates the community's understanding and support as local firefighters dedicate their Saturday morning to sharpening their skills and becoming better prepared to protect their communities!
Train together. Respond together. Protect together.
