Wash Co Fair and Foundation Fundraising 7 22 26

Jason Cloudt, former President of the Washington County Ag Society, is now the President of the Friends of the Washington County Fair, and spoke with Blair Radio about the fair and what they are doing to ensure its place in the future. We spoke for some time regarding the importance of the fair and throughout history the choices to keep the fair growing into the future. The Washington County Fair has been evolving with evening events to help bring new families into the fair. The main point of the conversation came as the thoughts of the future for the fair, as a new building project has started. They will be building a new building that will be similar in size to the current RVR Bank Building. This will, for future fairs, move the animals into the same building that will hold the show ring, adding safety for those showing and spectators. Another positive will be that the RVR Bank Building will have the ability to be open to host more events and will not have the animals in the building; this will make it easier to maintain the RVR Bank Building for other events. The original ask for the new construction was 2.3 million dollars. A lot of that has been raised, plus there is a matching gift of $250,000 that the Fair Foundation has to raise another $250,000 to receive the full gift.
