Washington County Fair Recap

The Washington County Fair wrapped up the local area fair season with cooler temperatures, a little rain, and a lot of fun.

This year the Washington County Extension was able to put on a great show with the 4-H exhibitors displaying their skills with crafts and animals. New this year was the Kids Barn, that served as a resting spot for many parents with children of all ages, and the Blair Chapter of the FFA held their first Ag Olympics. Both were very successful and looking to grow into the future.

The Washington County Fair held a ground breaking for the new event building that will be built following the closing of the fair so it can be ready for the 2027 fair which always starts on the last Friday of July.

The fair board always has great evening events planned and this year the weather for the most part was able to bring in large crowds for Concerts, Rodeo, Tractor and Truck Pulls, then finishing with the always popular Demolition Derby.

The Washington County Fair completed its 4-H portion of events with an annual auction. This auction gave the exhibitors the ability to sell everything from quilts to chickens, hogs, cows, sheep, and goats with 100 percent of the proceeds of sale going to the 4-H exhibitors. At the conclusion of this year's sale, over $230,000 will go back the exhibitors.
