Russ Cook Commander of American Legion Post 154 and Jim Sandvold, Adjunct to the Son’s the American Legion Squadron 154 came to the Blair Radio studios to talk about the renovation project going on currently at the Hain-Flynn American Legion. Ground broke last week to add an 800 square foot addition for ADA compliant restrooms and additional office space. This will allow the original restrooms to be removed and expand the lounge. Additionally, exterior space will be added to the west side and the event center will receive a face lift. The fundraising goal for the project is $500,000. Currently they have received donations for $370,000. They indicated that there are a couple more asks that have been submitted but the community can get involved. The donations can come in monetary or form of stock through Edward Jones Investments.
They did want to remind everyone that the American Legion is not only a safe place for veterans but also a community center that can be rented for a variety of events. You can find information regarding fundraising events through their social media or by contacting them at the American Legion directly. You may access the interview in its entirety on the Blair Radio YouTube channel.
