AN UPDATE ON THE EXPLOSION IN FREMONT:

The top floor of the Horizon Bio-fuels Building on the south side of Fremont exploded just before noon today, and along with that with a smaller adjacent building near East Cloverly Road and South Union Street.

Fremont Mayor Joey Spellerberg just announced that three employees of Horizon Bio Fuels are unaccounted for.

Task Force 1 from Lincoln is assessing the structural integrity of the building to determine where volunteer fire fighters can search for those three missing employees.

The tower of the structure still has fire in it as of late this afternoon.

The Nebraska State Patrol has put barricades up to limit sight seers.

Nine fire departments from Douglas, Saunders and Dodge counties are providing mutual aid as well as the State Patrol helicopter and fire department drones.

With the extreme heat, Fremont Fire Chief Todd Bernt says fire crews are being rotated to avoid heat exhaustion. The Red Cross is on hand to provide water to those first responders.
