Monitoring the Spread: March 13

Many area schools are extending spring break due to the Coronavirus outbreak, Blair Community Schools is, according to their website, resuming activities this coming Monday. It is noted that the district is deep cleaning it’s buildings, the High School is slated for sanitizing Monday evening from 7 to 11 pm. In preparation for the potential of closing school or restricting students at home, Superintendent Randy Gilson says information about on-line lessons is on the district’s website – BlairSchools.org, click on the red tab labeled e-learning information.

Missouri Valley Public schools, according to a letter from Superintendent Brent Hoesing, is monitoring the spread of the virus in Iowa, but at this time, has not cancelled classes or activities.


A Nebraska man on the same flight as Nebraska’s first case of Coronavirus is now the 11th case according to the Nebraska Department of Health and Human Services. The Cass County man is in his 50’s and is self-quarantined at home.

If you have plans to attend sporting events, you may want to check before leaving – many are being cancelled or attendance is restricted because of the virus. The Nebraska State Athletic Association Basketball championships this week in Lincoln are restricted to the players and their immediate families, streaming of those games is being made available – you can find out more online at NSAAhome.org.
