" NO RAISE" HEARD FROM A FEW IN LINCOLN

A few Nebraska officials say they do not want a raise. A joint statement from Lieutenant Governor Joe Kelly, State Treasurer Joey Spellerberg, and Secretary of State Bob Evnen said that, as the Nebraska Legislature continues its work to finalize a balanced budge, their offices are expressing their opposition to the salary increases proposed for their offices within an amendment to a bill.

Their letter says they respectfully request that the Legislature remove the Lieutenant Governor, State Treasurer, and Secretary of State from the proposed salary adjustment schedule and believe this step is necessary to maintain public trust as they navigate the state’s current financial responsibilities.
