UNICAMERAL OPENS YESTERDAY, TACKLES INAPPROPRIATE TOUCHING ISSUE ON FIRST DAY

The 2nd session of Nebraska's 109th Legislature started yesterday, along with that, the process to expel Senator Dan McKeon has been accused of inappropriate touching of a staff member

Following an investigation by a special personnel panel, Senator Ben Hansen of Blair said the Executive Board was taking steps to formally initiate the process against the Amherst lawmaker.

Senator McKeon denies the allegations.

The Executive Board wants to hold a hearing on the expulsion resolution next Monday, with only Senator McKeon or his counsel, and the special personnel panel's investigator, testifying. Due to the short timeline, lawmakers would have to approve a motion to waive the seven-day public notice
