Washington County Jail Sees Income From Housing Other counties Inmates

It costs 65 dollars a day to stay at the Washington County Jail. Some of the inmates from other counties are there for one day, others for much longer. The new county jail is housing not only those inmates who committed crimes in the county, but now provides cells for those from other counties that are facing the overcrowded conditions.

Most of the inmates come from Saunders County, with some from Pawnee, Otoe, Johnson and Burt Counties.

Those inmates have generated over 58 thousand dollars just in November.

That in a report to the Washington County Board of Supervisors by Sheriff Mike Robinson earlier this week.
