Here’s what’s happening in our area…


Nominations are now being accepted for the Harrison County Veteran Honoree at the county fair. The deadline to submit those nominations is tomorrow, July 8th. Full details can be found at the Harrison County Veterans Affairs, Iowa Facebook page.


Level up with Sewing, sewing classes at Blair’s Public Library and Technology Center start this week, for those aged 8 years and up. Register in person at the Library or call 402-426-3617.


Summer Day Camps at the School House- at the Washington County Museum in Fort Calhoun are Wednesday and Thursday July 30th and 31st and will feature Native American Crafts and Pioneer Crafts. There is a fee, registration and more information can be found online at wcmuseum.org/kids-daycamp


The American Red Cross is seeking volunteers to help with blood drives. Blood Donor Ambassadors and Blood Transportation Specialists are sought. More details can be found online at redcrossblood.org/volunteer


The Bennington Fire Department is having a hamburger feed as a fundraiser for the Muscular Dystrophy Association, Sunday, July 13th from 11am to 2pm Burgers, chips and drinks for a free-will donation at the Bennington Fire Department, 10801 North 156th Street in Bennington.


The Blair Animal Shelter drive-thru Pet Food Pantry, open to Washington County Residents – aims to help struggling families keep their pets at home and out of the shelter. The Pantry is the fourth Thursday of the month from 4:30 to 6pm...at 147 Fourth Street in Blair. The next pantry date is July 24th. Additional pop up pantries will be posted on the shelter’s Facebook Page.
