First Responders Softball Tournament
Perfect weather prevailed for the First Responders Softball Tournament as a good crowd came out to cheer on all of the teams.
The event was to kickoff the long-term fundraising campaign for the BYSA to have a
new scoreboard put in at the WCB Field for the Varsity Blair Bears and other teams to enjoy. During the second game (Blair Volunteer Fire and Rescue vs. the Blair Police Department) the need for a new board was obvious by the fact you could not read the score.
Game 1 was Washington County Fire vs. Douglas County Fire with Douglas County Fire advancing to the Championship game.
Game 2 was the Blair Volunteer Fire and Rescue vs Blair Police with a tight battle to the end with the Blair Police advancing to the final game.
Game 3 was the consolation game between Washington County Fire and the BVFR. The
Blair Fire department won 3rd place.
The Championship game went to the Douglas County Fire and the Blair Police Department came in reserve.
The BYSA had the concession stand going strong with grilling hotdogs and hamburgers as they continued to raise funds through the event. Teammates was also on hand with a 50/50 raffle and they were able to split over $700 with $363.75 going to the scoreboard fund.
You may continue to help with your donations even if you were not able to attend by contacting the BYSA.
