She passed away in 2019, since then, her mother has worked diligently to honor her daughter’s life.
Kristi Rounds was present at the Blair City Council this week when council members approved naming the new dog park “The Mandy Jo Rounds Memorial Dog Park”.
Kristi says she is happy to see the fruition of her work after putting together a board for the memorial foundation, fundraising through an annual golf tournament in July and another fundraiser around her daughter's birthday in March. Those efforts have resulted in approximately $100,000 for the dog park and scholarships.
Mrs. Rounds says Mandy Jo loved dogs, working with service dogs and in other efforts with canines.
Rules for the dog park were discussed at that city council meeting this week, and the ground breaking for the Mandy Jo Rounds Memorial Dog Park is this coming Monday afternoon, 2pm at the Black Elk-Neihardt park. This is Blair’s first dog park.
