RESPECT ROAD CLOSURES
The City of Blair reported an issue with damage to construction at the Blair Airport worksite and requests the public’s help at the County Road 35 connection to Highway 133.
Unfortunately, over the weekend, individuals drove beyond the posted “Road Closed” signs and performed donuts on the newly placed aggregate. This caused significant damage to the new roadway and subgrade and will require repairs before the road can open.
More importantly, there is also an increase in drivers going around barricades and traveling through the active construction area. This is a serious safety concern. Crews are still working throughout the project area, and entering a closed construction zone puts both drivers and workers at risk of injury.
The Washington County Sheriff’s Office has been contacted and will be increasing patrols in the area.
Work that still needs to be completed includes:
- Final utility work
- Fencing
- Seeding and erosion control
- Repairs to the recently damaged roadway
The City of Blair knows everyone is anxious to use the new connection, and they are excited to get it open too! Please help them get there safely and as quickly as possible by respecting all Road Closed signs and barricades.
- Do not drive around barricades.
- Watch out for work crews.
- Help us protect the work that has already been completed.
Every additional incident has the potential to delay the opening even further.
