SHERIFF SAYS HE IS RESPONSIBLE FOR COMITTED MAN IN MENTAL HEALTH EPISODE WALKING AWAY FROM FACILITY

The incident Tuesday evening regarding a person walking away from the Blair Hospital after being committed for a mental health episode in Herman – that episode involving shots fired, is being made more clear by Sheriff Mike Robinson.

The Sheriff says the Blair Police aided the Sheriff’s department in alerting area residence of this man’s presence in the area. Sheriff Robinson says neither the Blair Police or the Blair Hospital are responsible for that incident and that policies and procedures are being reviewed to avert any future mistake.

The Sheriff says he bears the full responsibility for what happened. The subject that walked away from the hospital caught a ride and returned to his home near Herman, where he was found and taken into custody at 12:30 am, October 29.
