A Blair area family donated over 180 bales of hay to help the ranchers and farmers in Western Nebraska, but needed a way to get the hay out there. Staff from the City of Blair helped load the hay and members of the Blair Street Department are transporting the feed - grazing areas are scorched and livestock are severely short on food.

Two firefighters from the Bennington Fire and Rescue Department are enroute today to western Nebraska to help with the wildfires, Those two will be taking one of their firefighting trucks with them, the department says Fort Calhoun Fire and Rescue will loan a brush truck so that there is adequate coverage for the Bennington district. Five members of the Irvington Volunteer Fire and Rescue Department are headed west today as well. Omaha Fire Department has also sent crews out to those wildfires.

Schuyler and Colfax County area farmers are also going to western Nebraska to help other farmers and ranchers, delivering hay and fence posts. If you would like to donate funds to help, go online to Nebraska Strong Disaster Relief (stock photo)
