Info from WC Sheriff about letters from the United States Sheriffs Deputies Association

A message from the Washington County Sheriffs Department regarding the calls and letter from the United States Sheriffs Deputies Association.

We are aware that some community members may have recently received a letter from the United States Sheriff’s Deputies Association requesting donations. The letter indicates that donations are used to assist underfunded law enforcement agencies. We want to clarify that the Washington County Sheriff’s Office is not affiliated with this organization and does not receive funding or donations from them.

While we certainly won’t tell anyone where they should or shouldn’t donate their money, if you are looking for a way to support law enforcement right here in Washington County, we encourage you to consider the Washington County Sheriff’s Foundation.

Donations to our Sheriff’s Foundation directly benefit your local Sheriff’s Office and help support programs that give back to our community, including Shop with a Sheriff, which helps make Christmas a little more special for local children and families.
