FUEL SPILL, MISSING BOATER ON WASHINGTON COUNTY SHERIFF'S SUMMARY FOR THE WEEKEND
Someone noticed an oil slick on Bell Creek at County Roads 26 and 11 and reported it to the Washington County Sheriff’s Office . A large amount of Diesel fuel spilled into the creek, that source was located and the property owner notified.
Also on Sheriff Mike Robinson’s activity summary over the holiday weekend, a woman drover her car onto the tarmac late Friday night at the Blair Airport and entered the Omaha Police Department Hangar. Blair Police conducted a drunk driving investigation in that matter.
A person called about shooting blanks to scare away roosting turkey vultures. They were advised not to do so because the vultures are a protected species.
A request was sent out by the sheriff’s office and Blair police for drones to help look for a missing boater in Burt County. In a related story, that missing boater, at last report had not been found, but sonar indicated an object that could be related to the matter, a Monona county resident disappeared into the river near Blencoe Saturday after a boat crashed into a barge near the Huff-Warner access area. That Monona county resident has not yet been identified.
