AREA FIRST RESPONDERS HANDLE MENTAL HEALTH EPISODE - AVOIDING BLOODSHED

ree

A little after noon today, the Washington County Sheriff’s Office responded to a request to check on the well being of a man suffering from a mental health episode in the 18 hundred block of County Road P-4.

When deputies arrived, they observed a man in body armor and armed with an assault rifle.

The Washington County Tactical Team and negotiators attempted to talk to the man. During that time, the man shot off multiple rounds from the weapon three times. Eventually he surrendered and was taken for a mental health evaluation.

Also responding to that situation – Blair Police, Herman and Fort Calhoun Fire and Rescue, the Nebraska State Patrol and Omaha police according to Sheriff Mike Robinson.
