A suspect in the homicide death of Fort Calhoun resident Linda Childers is in custody in Texas, awaiting extradition to Washington County.
30 year old William Collins is in Galveston County Jail on unrelated charges. Childer’s vehicle, taken from the scene of the homicide, was found in Collin’s possession.
In a news conference earlier today, Washington County Sheriff Mike Robinson and County Attorney Scott Vanderschaaf said the sheriff’s department, members of the Omaha Police Department and law enforcement from other agencies worked diligently to locate the suspect.
Collins is charged with first degree murder, use of a deadly weapon to commit a felony, assault, burglary, stolen firearm and theft.
