TENSE SITUATION IN HERMAN WITH A PERSON SUFFERING A MENTAL HEALTH EPISODE

ree

A little after noon Tuesday, the Washington County Sheriff’s Office responded to a request to check on the well being of a man suffering from a mental health episode. When deputies arrived, they observed a man in body armor and armed with an assault rifle. The Washington County Tactical Team and negotiators attempted to talk to the man. During that time, the man shot off multiple rounds from the weapon three times. Eventually he surrendered and was taken for a mental health evaluation. Also responding to that situation – Blair Police, Herman and Fort Calhoun Fire and Rescue, the Nebraska State Patrol and Omaha police according to Sheriff Mike Robinson.

Later in the evening, however, he walked away from the facility. ...Blair Police and the Washington County Sheriff’s Office then alerted the public through news releases of this matter.

Another notice, however, indicates that committed individual was found and is no longer a concern to the public.
